Madame Demaison selling her fish.

This photo is in front of the house, my mother is buying some fish from the truck, Madame Demaison was  also our neighbor and that was her business go around houses and restaurants selling fish  called " A marchande de poisson qui  fesait  une tournee" I guess her circuit.  She  and her husband were wonderful people and very good to me. At the time the restaurant was very plain, it was after the war and it had got hit when the Canadians bombed the airfield. We had big craters in the back yard were bombs had landed.

Le bapteme de l'air

This primitive watercolor was painted by Nita as a child , the house where she was born . Le Bapteme de l'air was a cafe -bar- restaurant in a small town called Saran in the outskirt of Orleans , France, right across from the airfield and runway of a small airport ," LAerodrome Orleans Saran "
It was always a cafe, probably was established in the early 1930' , the airport dates somewhere around 1913 , many stages took place to established an airport, Aviation was fairly new , one thing was the cafe was so close to the runway , it had a red light on the roof so when you landed it was a guide . The name Bapteme de l'air means Your first flight, baptism in the air . As a child I witnessed countless of individual take their first flight , after that experience they would come to the cafe and celebrate , in the early days it was a real treat to be able to go on a plane , but many couldn't go trough, it was scary , also expensive to do , the planes were small piper cub . My family lived above the restaurant , our whole life was being with the costumers who were affiliated to the airport .

This is my first chapter of this blog and many more to come , I am writing this for my children and Grandchildren .
